Pick me up — the dessert of seven layers

According to historical research, tiramisu was invented in the 1960s in Treviso, at the dairy “Le Beccherie” — mascarpone, egg yolk, espresso, ladyfingers, cocoa. “Tirami sù” means “pick me up” — an impulse, a composition of energy.
Over the decades, the version with alcohol (Amaretto, Marsala, rum) was devised. Today, Veneto and Friuli argue over which restaurant the original recipe was born in, and every host has his own twist.
